Kenya's Parliament and County Assemblies are the main entities with the power to pass legislation. Countrywide laws are created by Parliament, whereas local laws are created by County Assemblies. At the time of independence, Kenya was bicameral with Regional Assemblies; as the situation is today, it has since transitioned to unicameral with County Assemblies.
